Initiated by the Senior Leaders, JUST RICE day at Saint Ignatius’ College Senior School, in Athelstone, South Australia was a fun day, where the students shared a simple rice meal and contributed some of their resources to those less fortunate.
On Thursday 14th of April, the Tuckshop sold “JUST” RICE. Students and staff were encouraged to make a donation for their rice. The College Community chose to “partner with Caritas to make a difference” and took the opportunity to:
- Demonstrate solidarity with their brothers and sisters in many developing countries
- Eat simply during Lent, in a country where we all have more than we need
- Share the money they would ordinarily have spent at the tuckshop or vending machine
They raised over one thousand dollars, which will go towards supporting Project Compassion programs.
