Adelaide enjoys "Pancakes on the Plaza"

We celebrated Shrove Tuesday and the launching of Project Compassion 2010 on Mary MacKillop Plaza, adjacent to St Francis Xavier Cathedral. And how better than with pancakes!

The talented girls from St Aloysius College performed their musical magic and were greatly appreciated by the "on-their-way-to-school-and-work"crowds who enjoyed the pancakes prepared and served by SAC girls, the Caritas Committee and some generous helpers.

Many were willing to contribute to the photo-petition to STOP Global Poverty! And to take their first look at our "Blueprint for a Better World" materials.

It was a beautiful, sunny morning, the pancakes were delicious and, although the event was "free", the generosity of passers-by meant that there was over $300 in the PC boxes that were on display.
In partnership with FUNK coffee shop, we raised even more (final tally not in yet) as $1 from the sale of every (superb) coffee was kindly donated to Caritas Australia's Project Compassion.

Special thanks to Angela, Brendan and the Committee, to SAC staff and girls and to Roger Best from the Diocesan Centre for their hard work, which made the morning such a success.
