Caritas Rwanda Celebrates its 50th Anniversary!

Rwandan Refugee, Photo credit: Noel Gavin Allpix A moment to celebrate - this year, our partners in Rwanda mark half a century of overcoming conflict and poverty.

Whilst the country still has many challenges to overcome, much has been achieved in the past 50 years.

"We have come a long way, there still exists a certain suspicion among people from different ethnic groups and poverty is widespread, but we are on the right track. I am very optimistic,” said Fr. Incimatata (Caritas Rwanda leader).

To mark this momentous occasion, an anniversary celebration will be held this weekend (31 October) to commemorate the dedication of Caritas Rwanda’s staff, volunteers and wider communities. The celebration will be held in a stadium in the capital Kigali with thousands of local Caritas staff, representatives from Caritas members from Africa and other parts of the world as well as Lesley-Anne Knight, Secretary General of Caritas Internationalis.

Congratulations Caritas Rwanda!
