City2Surf training tips!

Team Caritas is growing steadily as walkers and runners sign up to join in fun for the City2Surf event in August! Over 100 people will be running for a good cause with Caritas Australia on August 8. Why not join in?

Meet our team trainer Kirsty, who’ll be sharing handy tips for how to prepare for the City2Surf…

Kirsty is a keen triathlete and her fun and friendly attitude has helped many of us in the Caritas office stay motivated to improve our fitness! Kirsty has run in numerous triathlons and has run in the City2Surf three times. She says the event draws thousands of people every year to enjoy the fun community vibe of the day as they take the journey to Bondi.
Tips to kickstart your training...
Cross training is KING! If you are like me and have a few old injuries that keep playing up with too much running, try some cross training.

Swimming: This is a great aerobic activity. While the equipment list isn't extensive (Speedos, goggles), finding a pool not filled with kids can be the challenge!

Cycling: Cycling uses the lower body as running does, so it's a complementary activity. For a cheaper option than buying your own bike, stick to the go-nowhere bikes at the gym and spinning classes.
