Caritas Australia tackling poverty and HIV in Kenya

Last week "the United Nation Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs news services (IRIN) reported that families and children affected by HIV are amongst the hardest hit by poverty and hunger in Kenya.

"With many local food-assistance programs for those living with HIV being rolled back in urban areas due to lack of funding, women and children without access to land and education in Kenya are becoming increasingly entangled in the cycles of abject poverty, poor health, and injustice.

"Caritas Australia is working through local partners in Kenya to deliver assistance to the most the vulnerable families and children whose extreme poverty and desperate lack of education is compounded by, and contributing to, levels of HIV/Aids in the nation." Read full story...
