The Blueprint for a Better World exhibition launch for the Pt Pirie Diocese took place on Wednesday, 26 August at the Cooinda (aboriginal drinking place) Hall in Port Augusta. The well known Mayor, Joy Baluch opened the exhibition along with the new Bishop of the Diocese, Bishop Greg O'Kelly. Four Senior Students at Caritas College Pt Augusta all spoke at the ceremony of their own Social Justice studies in 2009.
Local Parishoners under the "strict" guidance of Margareta Brosnan and Alex Engels from Caritas Australia constructed the set in the 2 days leading up to the opening. With students included, 116 attended the ceremony and were bodily nurtured by the CWL morning tea. A wide cross-section of both the local and regional community were able to attend, with the local TV, GTS/BKN, giving wonderful coverage on the evening news. Some home knitted rugs and scarfs were on sale by 2 ladies who have been regular Caritas supporters through this project. A healthy trickle of people since has kept the volunteer welcomers busy. The first group to visit, with lots of fun experienced, was from Miriam High, a special school in Pt Augusta. It is an ongoing interaction of all members of God's family.
