We are well on our way to reach our fundraising target with more then $5500 raised so far from a combined effort of the Caritas Running Team and CEO Sydney.
With 3 weeks to go, thank you for getting into the spirit of the City 2 Surf and showing much enthusiasm in running for Caritas Australia. Keep up the great work!
Training Tip of the Week:
Kirsty, our team trainer has put together some training tips for this week.
A good incentive to get moving is the Danish proverb “Fresh air impoverishes the doctor.”
Now is the time to start practicing your nutrition for race day. It is important you have trialed your nutrition in your training so that it doesn’t cause an upset stomach or tiredness on race day.
Remember the following nutrition and hydration rules:
1. Drink before during and after a run - That said you may need to practice to see just how much your stomach can handle.
2. Do not exercise straight after eating - It takes two hours for food to pass through the stomach, so it is not a good idea to exercise within two hours after eating a meal. Fat and protein are particularly slow in being processed through the stomach and into the digestive tract, at a rate of three to five hours. It is quite uncomfortable to run with a full stomach so try oatmeal or toast with banana and honey at least two hours before you head out.
